游历高山大川，大概从上古五帝那时就开始了。不过，人家不把这叫作游历，而叫巡狩或巡幸。《孟子 ·梁惠王》中有这么一句话：“天子适诸侯曰巡狩”。适者，往、至也。《汉书 ·郊祀志》上也有记载：“上（武帝）始巡幸郡县”…… 这一代帝王就比以前的那些个巡得仔细。
也许是高山大川招人，或许是大人物起得作用，一代代达官贵人，一茬茬巨商显贾，听说帝王都到某一个地方去，他们也就哄一下去了。可见，无论何朝何 [ … ]
