陈独秀(1879-1942)，安徽怀宁(今属安庆市)人，原名庆同，官名乾生，字仲甫，号实庵。中国新文化运动的发起人和旗帜，中国文化启蒙运动先驱，五四运动总司令，中国共产主义运动先行者，中国共产党的创始人及首任总书记，中共一大至五大期间党的最高领袖。

曾国藩（1811--1872年），初名子城，字伯涵，号涤生，谥文正，汉族，晚清重臣，湘军的创立者和统帅者。清朝军事家、理学家、政治家、书法家，文学家，晚清散文“湘乡派”创立人，晚清“中兴四大名臣”之一，中国历史上最具影响人物之一，官至两江总督、直隶总督、武英殿大学士，封一等毅勇侯，谥曰文正。毛泽东有曰：“予于近人，独服曾文正。”
